EMPRESS ELISABETH’S WARDROBE
Fashion designer Mónika Czédly’s replicas of 27 dresses is on display at Platthy Palace in Bánhorváti, where a walk through the rooms is almost like a walk through the rooms of Sisi’s childhood home, Possenhofen Castle. The exhibition can also be visited with a guided tour (audioguide in Hungarian – 45 minutes), so you can learn about Elisabeth’s life through her clothes from her girlhood to her death.
The exhibition is open every day from 10 am to 4 pm until 30 September 2023.

ELISABETH – BEHIND THE MASK OF VANITY – Presentation AND FASHION SHOW, Budapest
Empress Elisabeth was the famous beauty of the 19th century and did her utmost to maintain that image. But was she really driven by vanity, as is often claimed?
During the presentation of the researcher Barbara Káli-Rozmis, the Queen is impersonated by Living Historian Viktória Vas, presenter and copywriter Melinda Vilman, and singer Anita Potvorszki (songs from the musical ‘Elisabeth’), all in the enchanting replicas of fashion designer Mónika Czédly. And it is not just through them that we get a glimpse into the Empress’ wardrobe, as some of the replicas are on display, including a replica of Elisabeth’s most precious ‘diamond’ coronation dress. The programme ends with a presentation by gastronomist Monika Halmos, which introduces the favourite dishes of the imperial couple and provides a tasting of the sweets of the Monarchy (for those who buy tickets for the third part of the programme). A Hungarian-speaking video of the programme is available HERE.
